World Swine Flu Outbreak

How likely are YOU to contact the swine flu?

There are more cases of swine flu being confirmed in the United States, Canada and Europe as the World Health Organization described the outbreak as a "public health emergency of international concern."

The swine flu virus is normally contracted through direct contact with pigs, although now appears it is being spread through human contact and is growing world wide.

Panic and controversy is spreading world wide as the news of more suspected swine flu outbreaks in the US, Mexico and Canada occurs. Has Mexico caused a pandemic outbreak? Is quarantine a viable option? How fast is it spreading in the US?

Nations are urging their citizens to postpone travel to the United States and Mexico because of the swine flu virus. This affects the airlines who are already suffering through hard economic times. Will travelers be quarantined due to the panic? World stock markets are falling as investors worry that the deadly swine flu outbreak could go global.

How can you protect yourself and family from the swine flu and other virus? Is there a need to panic? Quarantine yourself? Declare a family "Health Emergency"?

Get back to the basics:
1. Stay home if you are feeling ill. Even if you don't have the swine flu, your immune system may be weaker and making you more susceptible and you certainly don’t want to contaminate others.
2. Consider not shaking hands with others. Even if they don’t have flu symptoms, you never know what they have touched.
3. Wash your hands frequently. Do this within reason as you don’t want to dry them out making the skin more open to infection.
4. Cover your mouth with your sleeve, collar or anything absorbent that is quickly available, as not to let the germs just fly. If you have to use your hands then wash them immediately as not to spread your germs.
5. Keep your fingers out of your mouth and resist touching your face which spreads germs quickly. No chewing your fingernails!
6. EAT YOUR FRESH FRUITS AND VEGTABLES, after washing thoroughly and don’t forget to BUY ORGANIC. Next best option: FROZEN FRUIT & VEGTABLES.
7. Stay away from crowds and high risk areas. SHOP FROM HOME and limit your chances for contact with viruses.
